Shogun 2 Korea Mod: A Guide to the Morning Sun Mod
If you are a fan of Total War: Shogun 2 and want to experience a new challenge and a new setting, you might be interested in the Morning Sun mod. What is the Morning Sun Mod?
The Morning Sun mod is a mod for Total War: Shogun 2 developed by uanime5 that attempts to recreate the Imjin War, a series of invasions by Japan into Korea and China from 1592 to 1598. The mod extends the campaign map to include Korea and China, and adds 12 new playable factions, each with their own unique units, agents and tech trees. The mod also features 12 turn per year, historical events, new buildings, new resources and new trade routes.
The mod is divided into two parts: part 1 contains the core files and part 2 contains the unit packs. You can download both parts from [Mod DB] or [Steam Workshop]. What are the New Factions?
The Morning Sun mod adds 12 new factions to the game, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Here is a brief introduction of each faction:
Japanese: The Japanese factions are the same as in the base game, but they have access to some new units such as Korean mercenaries, Ming defectors and Jurchen raiders. They also have a new agent type called the Ninja Master, who can perform assassinations, sabotage and espionage. The Japanese factions are: Shimazu Clan, Hojo Clan, Oda Clan, Date Clan, Tokugawa Clan, Shibata Clan, Ashina Clan, Chosokabe Clan, Kanbe Clan, Mori Clan, Otomo Clan and Uesugi Clan.
Jurchens: The Jurchens are a nomadic people who live in Manchuria and Mongolia. They are skilled horsemen and archers, and can field fast and agile cavalry units such as Jurchen Horse Archers, Jurchen Light Cavalry and Jurchen Heavy Cavalry. They also have a unique agent type called the Shaman, who can perform rituals, heal troops and inspire armies. The Jurchen faction is: Aisin Gioro.
Korean: The Korean faction is the Kingdom of Joseon, which ruled Korea from 1392 to 1897. The Koreans have a balanced roster of units, ranging from spearmen and swordsmen to archers and gunners. They also have some unique units such as Hwacha Rocket Launchers, Turtle Ships and Royal Guards. They also have a unique agent type called the Scholar, who can research technologies, spread culture and bribe enemies. The Korean faction is: Kingdom of Joseon.
Tusi: The Tusi are a group of tribal chiefs who ruled over parts of southwestern China during the Ming dynasty. They have a diverse roster of units, including infantry, cavalry, archers and gunners. They also have some unique units such as Tusi Warriors, Tusi Archers and Tusi Gunners. They also have a unique agent type called the Chieftain, who can recruit troops, incite rebellions and negotiate alliances. The Tusi faction is: Chieftaindom of Bozhou.
Chinese: The Chinese faction is the Ming Empire, which ruled China from 1368 to 1644. The Chinese have a powerful roster of units, including heavy infantry, heavy cavalry, crossbowmen and artillery. They also have some unique units such as Ming Swordsmen, Ming Halberdiers and Ming Fire Lancers. They also have a unique agent type called the Eunuch, who can administer provinces, spy on enemies and assassinate rivals. The Chinese faction is: Ming Empire.
Mongols: The Mongols are a nomadic people who conquered most of Asia and parts of Europe in the 13th and 14th centuries. They are masters of horse warfare, and can field fast and deadly cavalry units such as Mongol Horse Archers, Mongol Light Cavalry and Mongol Heavy Cavalry. They also have a unique agent type called the Khan, who can lead armies, inspire troops and challenge enemies to duels. The Mongol faction is: Yuan Khanate.
Uighurstan: Uighurstan is a region in Central Asia inhabited by the Uighur people, who are mostly Muslim. They have a varied roster of units, including infantry, cavalry, archers and gunners. They also have some unique units such as Uighur Warriors, Uighur Archers and Uighur Gunners. They also have a unique agent type called the Imam, who can spread religion, convert enemies and heal troops. The Uighurstan faction is: Uighurstan.
Tibetan: The Tibetan faction is the Kingdom of Nangchen, which was one of the kingdoms that existed in Tibet before the Chinese invasion in the 1950s. The Tibetans have a strong roster of units, including monks, spearmen, swordsmen and archers. They also have some unique units such as Tibetan Monks, Tibetan Spearmen and Tibetan Swordsmen. What are the New Units?
